Key State Support for Candidates by Latino Pastors Released

Washington, DC - The National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders (CONLAMIC), the largest latino pastors advocacy organization, based in Washington DC, has finalized a comprehensive report that gives support to key Senate candidates and provides data sufficient, for endorsement. The following races on these States were analized and the opinion of the majority of latino christian pastors was duly compiled as follows:

  • Rhode Island: no consensus reached as Latino Pastors rejected both candidates.
  • New Jersey: With a majority of 67% of Latino Pastors in favor, CONLAMIC endorses Senator Robert Menendez (D).
  • Pennsylvania: With a majority of 92% of Latino Pastors in favor, CONLAMIC endorses Senator Rick Santorum (R).
  • Maryland: With a majority of 69% of Latino Pastors in favor, CONLAMIC endorses Michael Steele (R).
  • Virginia: With a majority of 83% of latino pastors in favor, CONLAMIC endorses George Allen (R).
  • Florida: No consesus reached as Latino pastors rejected both candidates.
  • Tennessee: With a majority of 73% of latino pastors, CONLAMIC endorses Harold Ford (D).
  • Missouri: With a majority of 61%of latino pastors, CONLAMIC endorses Jim Talent (R).
  • Ohio: With a majority of 74% of latino pastors, CONLAMIC endorses Mike DeWine (R).

Pastors interviewed are members of a city wide pastors associations or chapters affiliated with the National Coalition of Latino Clergy andChristianLeaders (CONLAMIC). Main topics taken into consideration were: Judicial Nominees for Federal Courts, Immigration Reform and Traditional Marriage values.
